Sarla Aviation to Set Up World’s Largest Electric Air Taxi Factory

Bengaluru-based Sarla Aviation has signed an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government to establish what it calls the world’s largest electric air taxi manufacturing facility in Anantapur district. The ₹1,300-crore project will come up on a 500-acre “Sky Factory” campus and focus on manufacturing electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The MoU was signed with the AP Airport Development Corporation at the CII Partnership Summit. In the first phase, ₹330 crore will be invested over 150 acres at Thimmasamduram village to develop manufacturing units, research labs and a two-kilometre runway. Once fully operational, the facility is expected to produce up to 1,000 aircraft annually, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a hub for advanced manufacturing and green mobility while generating thousands of skilled jobs.
